Stormy

The tuxedo shop was in OKC about 25 mins from Edmond. As we pulled in we saw our long time friend Sean Welsh and his son Gino. As it happens the timing was perfect as we were able to help him jumpstart his car.

Nice Tux Kenny :) In the store we also met two brethren that had just flown in to OKC from New Brunswick, Canada. They followed us back to the hotel.

In the time it took to go from Edmond to OKC and back the weather took a dramatic turn. It went from sunny to overcast to windy storm within an hour. Look at the pictures of the clouds in the album - ominous We almost thought a tornado was coming through. Thankfully not. That curtailed our plan to go to HQ early so we could look around and take pictures. Maybe we'll still get some nice night shots when we go for practice.

Please continue praying for everything, weather and protection, finishing touches to God's House, that the choir will come together and perform as one since they will only have 2 short practices, inspriation for Mr Flurry in the message at the Dedication ceremony etc. etc.

Safe Arrival

Our trip was smooth and uneventful and seemed to go by so fast. Kenny did a wonderful job of driving all the way through (yes, I feel little guilty about letting him do all the driving but he's my hero!). Actually driving time was about 16 hrs as we stopped a few times for food and gas and also slept for 30 mins. We arrived at about 10am and checked into the Best Western Hotel. I was delighted to find that they have a Keurig coffee maker in the room. I have one at home but have never seen one in a hotel - quite a luxury!

We just woke up from a lovely 3 hours nap and now we're going to go out; Kenny needs to get his tuxedo jacket and check that it fits right. For the performance everyone is wearing white, following the example in 2 Chron 5:12. The men will have white tuxedo jackets, white ties and black pants. Ladies will be in white dresses. Choir practice is 8.30pm with the orchestra. That is going to be so exciting seeing all the choir together in the auditorium.

The feast atmosphere is already here, as when I checked into the hotel I saw Mr & Mrs Esparza, local elder from Mexico. We had met them at the Feast in Veracruz in 2007.

On Our Way

We left home about 5pm today because I had to work. Thankfully my boss has been great about giving me time off for this trip, Trumpets and the Feast all in one month. The journey is projected to be about 17hrs without stops and we intend to drive all the way through without not stopping overnight. We'll see if we manage that! Kenny has choir practice on Thursday night so we're aiming to be in Edmond for that.

You might be wondering...due to the wonders of technology, I am able to connect to the internet while on the road by hooking up my cell phone to the laptop.

An advantage of night driving is less cars on the road so we should make good progress. Kenny will do most of the driving at night (I think he's scared I'll fall asleep!) and I appreciate it. It will be fun to see the sunrise - see you in the morning.

Introduction

Hello friends, We thought that it would be fun to do this blog of our trip to Edmond for the Dedication. There is a lot of excitement with people coming from all over the world. It will be like a mini feast and we are looking forward to meeting some friends we haven't seen in a long time. Not everyone could make it in person so we hope this blog will help you feel like you are getting a ringside view of events. Another advantage of blogging is that it will force us to capture more of the trip than we otherwise would. So we hope you enjoy sharing this momentous journey with us. We'll try to keep it up over the next few days but not overwhelm you with emails!
